The gas distribution valve is one of the core components of a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO), and it is responsible for periodically switching the airflow direction to achieve efficient heat exchange in the regenerative beds. Different structured gas distribution valves exhibit significant working principles and lifespan differences. Currently, rotary gas distribution valves and poppet-type gas distribution valves are the two most widely used types.

1. Rotary Gas Distribution Valve (Program-Controlled Valve)
0.1 Working Principle
The motor drives a rotating valve body with openings to periodically cover the inlet and outlet ports of different regenerative chambers, thereby switching the airflow direction.
The airflow switching is smooth and continuous, with low pressure drop and high switching frequency, significantly improving the thermal efficiency of the RTO.
0.2 Lifespan Analysis
Advantages: Continuous motion, no impact or vibration, and uniform mechanical wear.
Maintenance Lifespan Range: Typically 3-5 years (depending on operating hours and maintenance).
2. Poppet-Type Gas Distribution Valve (Two-Position Switch Valve)
0.1 Working Principle
Uses pneumatic or hydraulic drive to move the valve plate vertically, directly opening or closing the inlet and outlet ports of the regenerative chambers to switch the airflow direction.
The structure is simple, and switching is rapid, but the pressure drop is significant. At high switching frequencies (>120 seconds/cycle), the valve lifespan decreases substantially, while at low switching frequencies (<120 seconds/cycle), the thermal efficiency of the RTO drops significantly.

Advantages: Simple structure and easy maintenance.
Maintenance Lifespan Range: 0.5-1 year.
Summary
Rotary Gas Distribution Valve:

It is suitable for applications with lower thermal efficiency requirements and periodic shutdowns for maintenance.
